The Civil Service Commission (CSC) confers the Local Treasurer Eligibility on 1, 234 individuals after passing the Basic Competency on Local Treasury Examination (BCLTE) held last Nov.26. The figure represents 18.92 per cent of the 6, 521 examinees.

Janine Lynn Ochia from Northern Mindanao (Region X) led the Local Treasurer eligible as she garnered a rating of 92.78. On second spot, with a 91.67 rating, is Alvin Batol, haling form SOCCSKSARGEN (Region XII). With a rating of 90.28, Remar Doromal also from Region XII and Kevin Pumares from Ilocos (Region I), came in third.

The Local Treasurer Eligibility (LTE) is the latest eligibility instituted by the CSC, which results from passing the BCLTE. The LTE is a second level eligibility appropriate for appointment only to Local Treasurer and Assistant Local Treasurer positions, and to positions under the Financial Services that do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by Bas/Board or special laws.

The institution of the LTE, the CSC said, forms integral part of SEAL or Standardized Examination and Assessment for Local Treasury Service program of the Department of Finance, which seeks to professionalize the ranks and improve the competencies of treasurers. This would lead to the critical aspect of achieving improved recruitment and selection process.

Eastern Visayas (Region VIII) followed with 26.21% passing rate, representing 103 passers out of 393 examinees. Placing third was southern Tagalog (Region IV), registering 131 passers out of 526 examinees or a 24.90% passing rate. BCLTE was conducted in 15 regions.

Those who passed, the CSC added, may claim their Certification of Eligibility at the CSC Regional Office Concerned by Feb. 7.
